Neuroscience of Meditation for Bushfire Relief

  • Tank Stream Labs Level 3 17-19 Bridge Street Sydney Australia (map)

The Neuroscience of Meditation for Bushfire Relief event is a donation based event with all proceeds going directly to Red Cross Bushfire Relief and Recovery Fund.

This season’s Australian Bushfires continue to be a heartbreaking national disaster, sending local and international shock waves of stress and despair. With 25.5 million hectares of our nation burnt (size of Austria), 2000+ homes destroyed, 28 lives tragically lost, 1.25 billion animals perishing and days of hazardous air quality; it has been an incredibly disturbing and tragic start to the decade.

The purpose of this event is two-fold. Firstly, to provide direct financial support to the Red Cross to help fund their national fire relief and recovery efforts. Secondly, it is to arm you with the neurological toolkit of meditation; to deal, process and restore your mental-wellbeing during this deeply traumatic time. Both these objectives are critical to us recovering and rebuilding our nation.

Unpacking the Neuroscience of Meditation and showcasing its Eastern origins, this event will share the:

> modern neuroscience and clinical usage of meditation

> ancient teachings and restorative ideals of meditation

> powerful therapeutic benefits of meditation to brain health and overall mental well-being

> tools for meditation via a guided meditation; suitable for levels of meditators

The event structure will run as follows:

6:30 - 6:45 - Welcome and Networking

6:45 - 7:10 - The Neuroscience of Meditation. Presented by Shelley Laslett, Neuroscience Coach & Post-Grad Neuroscientist

7:15 - 7:45 - The Eastern Teachings of Meditation. With our Expert Panel;

Fundamentally, this event is about helping yourself and others come together, restore and start to rebuild. For only when we learn to calm and control our own minds, can we calm and help change the chaos outside ourselves.
